INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 pound uncooked pork sausage or uncooked ground beef (sausage is better)
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 head of cabbage, sliced
  • 1 cup of shredded carrots or 3 large carrots, chopped
  • 1 T minced fresh ginger
  • 2-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 T soy sauce (double if using ground beef)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (double if using ground beef)
  • 1 cup chicken broth or beef broth
  • chopped green onions for garnish, optional
  • sesame seeds for garnish, optional

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a large frying pan, over medium high heat combine the raw meat, onions, cabbage and carrots. Cook while breaking up meat and stirring until meat is cooked through and vegetables are soft, about 10 minutes.
  2. Add the ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil and chicken broth. Stir to combine over medium heat for a few minutes.
  3. Serve with a scoop of jasmine rice, or use to fill won ton wrappers – wrap them up, then fry for homemade egg rolls.
