INGREDIENTS:

  • Marinara sauce
  • Shredded mozzarella
  • Pepperoni
  • Deli Ham slices
  • 1 lb sausage
  • 1/2 yellow onion
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 pepper
  • 1 egg
  • Seasonings for top (red pepper flakes, parsley, basil, oregano, or Italian seasoning)

PIZZA DOUGH

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 tsp yeast
  • 3-4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup avocado oil

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 425.
  2. In a mixer, combine water and yeast. Give it a quick stir, cover and let rest 10 minutes.
  3. Add oil and salt to yeast mixture and mix to combine.
  4. Slowly add in flour until dough forms a ball and no longer sticks to sides. Careful not to add too much flour. Knead about 3-5 min. Cover and let rise 1 hour (or however long you have).
  5. While dough rises, cook sausage and onion in a pan. Add salt and pepper. Set aside.
  6. Once dough is finished rising, remove the dough from the bowl and dump onto a lightly floured surface. Divide into 5 equal portions, and roll out each portion into thin circles.
  7. On one half of the circle, spread a couple tablespoons of marinara sauce, 2 slices of ham, 6-8 pieces of pepperoni, sausage, and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
  8. Fold over and tightly crimp or twist the edges.
  9. Beat an egg and 1 T milk to make an egg wash. Brush egg wash on each calzone. Sprinkle desired seasonings on each calzone (parsley, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes if you like it spicy).
  10. Cut an X for venting on each calzone.
  11. Bake 425 for 15 min.
  12. Dip in marinara sauce and enjoy!
