INGREDIENTS:
- Marinara sauce
- Shredded mozzarella
- Pepperoni
- Deli Ham slices
- 1 lb sausage
- 1/2 yellow onion
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 pepper
- 1 egg
- Seasonings for top (red pepper flakes, parsley, basil, oregano, or Italian seasoning)
PIZZA DOUGH
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 tsp yeast
- 3-4 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup avocado oil
DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 425.
- In a mixer, combine water and yeast. Give it a quick stir, cover and let rest 10 minutes.
- Add oil and salt to yeast mixture and mix to combine.
- Slowly add in flour until dough forms a ball and no longer sticks to sides. Careful not to add too much flour. Knead about 3-5 min. Cover and let rise 1 hour (or however long you have).
- While dough rises, cook sausage and onion in a pan. Add salt and pepper. Set aside.
- Once dough is finished rising, remove the dough from the bowl and dump onto a lightly floured surface. Divide into 5 equal portions, and roll out each portion into thin circles.
- On one half of the circle, spread a couple tablespoons of marinara sauce, 2 slices of ham, 6-8 pieces of pepperoni, sausage, and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
- Fold over and tightly crimp or twist the edges.
- Beat an egg and 1 T milk to make an egg wash. Brush egg wash on each calzone. Sprinkle desired seasonings on each calzone (parsley, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes if you like it spicy).
- Cut an X for venting on each calzone.
- Bake 425 for 15 min.
- Dip in marinara sauce and enjoy!
